Assessments
Employers’ assessments fund the compensation system. WorkSafeBC classifies your business operation and applies a premium rate which, along with your payroll, is used to calculate your premiums owning. Employers may have concerns with:
- when to register
- coverage for sole proprietors/unincorporated partners
- homeowners (may be employers)
- dealing with contractors
- appropriate classification
- reporting your payroll
- penalties
- audits
- collections
If you disagree with an Assessment decision, you may ask for a:
- Reconsideration within 75 days from the date of the decision or
- Review within 90 days from the date of the decision.
- In some cases, a further appeal may be filed within 30 days of the Review Division decision to the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal.
If you require assistance, or if you have questions/concerns, please contact your local Employers’ Advisers Office.
