| Summary This section contains definitions for terms used throughout the Employment Standards Act and its Regulation. |
| Text of Legislation "conditions of employment” means all matter and circumstances that in any way affect the employment relationship of employers and employees; |
| Policy Interpretation Conditions of employment are given broad interpretation under the Act, rather than a restrictive interpretation. Conditions of employment can be oral, through verbal commitment or practice, or in a written contract, or in a collective agreement. Examples of employment conditions include, but are not limited to, wages, payment of wages, benefits, job classification, job responsibilities, hours of work, and where the work is to be performed. |
