Summary

This section requires that an employer provide information to the director which will be used to create and maintain a list of employees working in private residences.

15. An employer must provide to the director, in accordance with the regulations, any information required for establishing and maintaining a register of employees working in private residences.

Policy Interpretation

The Employment Standards Regulation requires all domestics and textile workers who work in private residences to be registered with the director.

In the case of an employee who will be employed as a domestic and who is coming to Canada from a different country, the employer must provide the required information, as set out in the Employment Standards Regulation s.13, before the employee is hired and before making an application to bring the employee to Canada.
