Employment Agencies in British Columbia

Sections 10 and 11 of the Act set out the specific provisions that apply to employment agencies in British Columbia.

"Employment agency" means a person or company who, for a fee, recruits or offers to recruit employees for employers.

Provisions that apply specifically to employment agencies include:

• Employment agencies in B.C. must be licensed by the Director of Employment Standards;
• Employment agencies must not seek payment from persons seeking employment;
• Employment agencies who recruit solely for one employer do not have to be licensed.
